We're half way there...or are we???

Our 20-week ultrasound went great!  It was so exciting to see Ricey look like an actual baby and not a grain of rice!  We learned a few things about our little babe on Friday:
1.)  He or she is a mover- Ricey would not keep still during the ultrasound.  He/she was kicking, flipping,  and turning the entire time.
2.)  Ricey loves to relax.  At one point, we saw our baby just chilling in there with both hands behind his/her head.
3.)  Ricey is very stubborn.  The tech needed one last picture in order for us to leave.  This picture stood between a pregnant woman and eating a very late dinner!  Well that is when Ricey decided to stay put and give us some trouble.  We tried a few ways to get him/her to move- but to no avail.  The tech had to use different equipment- but we were able to get the picture.
4.) Ricey is a big baby!  I'm not sure why I was surprised to learn this.  Have you seen Bo??  Although I am technically at 20 weeks, Ricey measured at 21.5 weeks along.  I'm pretty convinced that the babe will come out dressed, talking and walking,  And with A LOT of hair (again, we are talking about Bo's child).  And we may even get an early arrival??  But based on fact #3- this stubborn babe might decide to take his/her time and come out whenever they choose.

Here are a couple of photos from the big day.  The first two are Ricey's profile and the 3rd is a tiny little foot!

The "Bump"

Per the request of my sister (sensing a theme here??), I will post a picture of my growing belly every couple of weeks to keep my peeps up to date with the progress.  Right now my pants are very tight, but I haven't really popped yet.  I'm in between "is she pregnant" and "how many Chipotle burritos did you eat".

This picture was taken at 20 weeks:

Learning from the best

Although I am clearly the favorite child, I am also the last to give my parentals a grandchild.  The great thing about being the last is that I will get a lot of help.  Not only will I save on buying baby stuff, but I also have two great siblings to look to for parenting advice.  Instead of praising Leslie and John in words, the following pictures clearly demonstrate the exceptional parenting skills that these two have.  I can only hope to be half as good of a parent as my brother and sister.

The Start of the Baby O'Neill Blog

I am finally succumbing to the pressure of starting a baby blog (you're welcome Leslie).  Your patience is appreciated in the early days while we (read Barb) get acclimated to the blogging world.  The intent of this little blog is to allow our family and friends to keep up to date with Baby O'Neill's progress.  The bumpkin is due on 5/6/2011.

Our 20-week ultrasound is this Friday!  Our first ultrasound happened at 7 weeks and the little nugget looked more like a grain of rice than a baby.  Since that day, Bo has been referring to the babe as "Ricey".  We can't wait to see what he or she looks like at 20 weeks!

Here is a picture of Ricey at 7 weeks:
